Costa del Sol Golf Guide
Welcome to the Teetimesanywhere.com guide to playing golf on the Costa del Sol
With around 50 courses to choose from, golf on the Costa del Sol offers enthusiasts plenty of choice in both course styles and price range. And the region has popular beaches, mountain retreats, nightlife, and lots of sightseeing for non-golfing visitors. Marbella’s renowned Valle del Golf, home to some of the finest golf courses in the Costa del Sol, runs from the resorts of Marbella and Puerto Banus, to the Sierra Real and Sierra Blanca mountain ranges.
If you are planning on playing some golf on the Costa del Sol here is a quick guide to some of the best golf courses on the Costa del Sol.
Alcaidesa
The most western of Costa del Sol golf courses, with its spectacular views of the Mediterranean and the Atlas Mountains, is a hilly, 18-hole, Par 71 course featuring four beachside holes. Well-kept greens and tended fairways on this Costa del Sol golf course make for a pleasant game, and clubs, buggies and trolleys are available for hire. There is a pro shop, restaurant, and bar, as well as a driving range, and putting and chipping greens. Lessons from the club pro are available.

Alhaurin
Seve Ballesteros designed this testing, international-standard, 18-hole, Par 72 Costa del Sol golf course, located between Mijas and Coín, in the Sierra de Mijas. Its tough holes, lush fairways and manicured greens are set in a pine forest, and there are mountain and sea views to rival most golf courses on the Costa del Sol. A degree of fitness is required to walk this course, indeed, a buggy is recommended, and players need a range of clubs. Recent modifications have made the course easier for the less fit and inexperienced golfers. There is a restaurant and bar, a golf school, and clubs, trolleys and buggies are available for rent.

Atalaya
Atalaya has two well-maintained 18-hole, Par 72 courses – the Old Course (opened in 1967) and the New Course (opened in 1991). The Old Course is flat with wide fairways, surrounded by tall pines and lush vegetation, while the New Course slopes gently and has mountain and Mediterranean Sea views characteristic of golf on the Costa del Sol. The pro shop is well stocked, and the restaurant, bar, and kiosk are all popular with non-golfers. The four putting greens, driving range, and short game area are great for practice, and lessons are available.
