Costa Blanca Golf Guide
The Costa Blanca, on Spain’s Mediterranean seaboard, is becoming as renowned for its variety of golf courses as it is for its miles of white sandy beaches, perfect weather and many charming old towns and villages. You can fly into Alicante and choose from several nearby courses, such as Alicante, Alenda, Bonalba, or El Plantio, or head further afield, to other high quality golf courses on the Costa Blanca such as the highly rated El Saler or La Manga courses.
If you are planning to play some golf on the Costa Blanca here’s a guide to some of the more popular golf courses on the Costa Blanca to help you plan your trip.
Alenda
Just 15 km west of Alicante, Alenda is a gently rolling 18-hole, Par 72 Costa Blanca golf course opened in 1999, and designed by Roland Favrat. The course suits all levels of players, although these difficult greens have slopes that will test your putting ability. The first nine, tree-lined holes are wide, while the last nine holes involve a high level of precision, rather than hitting ability. There is a covered driving range, putting and chipping greens, and a restaurant and snack bar, as well as a pro shop, with buggy, club, and trolley hire.
Alicante
Set near the beach, this is one of the best courses that Seve Ballesteros has designed. This popular Costa Blanca golf course, opened in 1998 and surrounded by a housing estate, has wide fairways and plenty of bunkers and water hazards to negotiate. The 18-hole, Par 72 course includes a driving range, chipping and putting greens, and on-course beverages are available. A gym and sauna are easily accessible, as well as buggy and club hire, and electric and manual trolley hire. The restaurant and snack bar cater for both visitors and golfers.
Altorreal
This 18-hole, Par 72 course, 10 km from Murcia and half-way between Alicante and La Manga, is a semi-private, 18-hole championship course designed by Dave Thomas. Come for the great mountain scenery as well as some of the best Costa Blanca golf. There are putting green and pitching greens, a driving range to improve your swing, and the course itself is set among pines, olives, and carobs. The clubhouse has a restaurant, showers and a sauna, and the pro shop offers rental trolleys, buggies, and clubs, as well as golf tuition.

El Saler
On the coast just south of Valencia, El Saler is set within the Albufera Nature Park, and surrounded by pine trees and sand dunes. Good enough to have hosted a number of Spanish Opens, the Javier Arana-designed course has exceptional fairways and generous greens. The well-positioned bunkers require that you be careful with your shots. El Saler is one of Europe’s top courses and a ‘must play’ on your list of golf courses on the Costa Blanca. The recently refurbished clubhouse is the perfect place for relaxing after a game.
La Finca
Situated at the foot of Mount Escotera, in the heart of the Segura region, La Finca has probably the greatest variety of greens of any of the numerous golf courses on the Costa Blanca. Designed to host top tournaments, La Finca golf course is a ‘must play’ addition to any Costa Blanca golf tour.
Real Campoamor
Ten kilometers from Torrevieja, the Real Campoamor, designed by Carmelo Gracias, is a 6,203-metre, Par 72 Costa Blanca golf course, with lush fairways, set in a pine forest overlooking the Costa Blanca coastline. You can hire clubs, buggies, and practice balls, and get golf lessons at the pro shop. There is also a driving range and putting green. The new clubhouse will have a cafeteria, a bar and restaurant, as well as swimming pools, a children's playground and tennis courts.

Villamartin
Villamartin is not one of the more internationally recognised golf courses in the Costa Blanca but is well worth playing and, because it is still relatively quiet, getting the tee time you want should be possible.
