Area Description - South of France:
Cte d'Azur, Provence, the Midi, the Riviera, choose for your self - all these evocative names apply to this fabled region of France. The term, Riviera, includes not only the extensive Mediterranean coast but also the vast stretches of hinterland reaching into the breathtaking hills and Alpilles Mountains - all unashamedly beautiful.

Sun drenched beaches border the intensely blue sea, a pervasive perfume of herbs and flowers is always in the air and the rolling hills are terraced with vines & ancient olive trees. An impressive legacy was forged from an often tumultuous past, making the region culturally rich as well as unashamedly glamorous.

One of the greatest attractions is man-made; the concentration of outstanding golf courses. The British introduced golf to the Riviera, and more recently, other equally good courses have been added to join the longer, established names. To play golf here really is an experience to be savoured by itinerant gourmets who fully appreciate ' a quality of life'.even one week is simply not enough.

Avignon The cultural centre of Provence is one of the most famous mediaeval walled cities in Europe. Living history is encapsulated in the warren of narrow streets, still ideal for pedestrians.

Aix-en-Provence Often referred to as the most elegant city in the region, there is an unmistakable historical atmosphere in the network of beautiful old streets and squares.

Bandol Famous for its vineyards and top quality red wines that are now among the finest in the south of France. Three good beaches, over 300 days of sunshine each year and a large marina ensure its popularity.

Brignoles Another ancient and well preserved market town with a turbulent history. There is a maze of intriguing streets and small squares with many shops and restaurants within the remains of the old town walls.

Sainte-Maxim Across the bay from St-Tropez, the mild climate and stunning scenery has attracted visitors to this picturesque town for over 100 years. The busy streets have a great ambiance, especially on market days.

Cannes This fabulous ritzy town, unbelievably was once a sleepy fishing village and is now the most fashionable resort of the French Riviera. Luxurious hotels in picture-postcard scenery provide the glamorous setting to enjoy an aperitif at one of the many bars on the famous Croisette and restaurants of the old port.

Mougins This quintessential hill village is quietly tucked away behind Cannes. The many delightful restaurants, several of which boast on or two Michelin stars, enjoy an unrivalled reputation for superb cuisine that is both traditional and innovative.

Nice The French Riviera established a reputation as an elite winter resort for the British many years ago and Nice became a favourite destination. An intriguing mix of former Italian port town and turn of the century Bell Epoque, its endearing characteristic is the famous Promenade des Anglais. Glamorous nightclubs, busy restaurants throng the streets of the old town as well as the newer town centre.

Monte Carlo Indisputably elegant yet offering so much to enjoy without having to break the bank and golf as well.

Area Description - Corsica:
Renowned as France's 'Ile de Beaut', Corsica has a unique appeal for any holiday maker. It is decidedly different to the mainland and completely unspoilt.

Four thousand years of history have unfolded here but Corsica only became part of France in 1769. Unbelievably, the original heritage has been conserved. Spectacular scenery created by the savage, rocky coastline, countless miles of magnificent white beaches and dramatic towering mountains add to the diversity of cultures. This is a 'wild' beauty that has been preserved to an extent not seen elsewhere in the Mediterranean.

Summer comes early to the clinging villages, the busy harbours and the sandy coves, all bathed in the fragrant myrtle scented air of the 'maquis'. The cuisine is wonderful and strongly influenced by the proximity to Italy. The abundant local wines are still relatively unknown but are robust and good value. Many sporting tastes are already catered for; sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, fishing, walking and horse riding.

Now you can enjoy your favourite sport on one of the best and certainly one of the most stunning courses in France - Sperone, a true Robert Trent-Jones masterpiece, in every sense of the word.

A captivating and enchanting island that should not be missed.

Porto-Vecchio Originally built as a fort at the head of the gulf of Porto-Vecchio, one of Corsica's idyllic sites, this bustling holiday centre has a yacht-lined marina, lively shops, cafs and restaurants. Nearby, are some of the most glorious beaches on the island. Definitely the resort to be seen in.

Bonifacio The old town, close to the citadel, is perched along a sheer limestone cliff, where some of the older houses cling precariously to the edge - literally! As you can imagine, the views are incredible. The narrow cobbled streets lead down to the friendly restaurants and bars in the busy little port.
